Craft-a-Thon Strikes Back!  Glue guns, Rubbish, Project Runway’s Christopher Straub and a Moog Synthesizer Come Together During the No-Coast Craft-o-Rama

Hey, Crafter!  We want YOU for the Second Annual No Coast Craft-a-Thon Upcycle Challenge!

What is it?
No Coast Craft-a-Thon is a competitive event that pits four teams of crafters against each other in an “upcycling” battle royale.  This year, we’re focusing the challenge on Clothing and accessories. Take a pile of junk and turn it into fashion!

Each team will receive a set of broken-in materials (Snorks bed sheets?  A thousand toilet paper tubes?  Vintage acrylic yarns from Aunt Madge’s stash?  Who knows what wonders await!) with which to create a fantastic upcycled look.  Each team will receive a similar set of materials and supplies to work with, although each material set will be somewhat unique due to the nature of thrifted/used materials.  The material sets’ contents will remain a mystery until the teams step onstage.  Once the teams tear into their material sets, the games begin. Show off your craft chops!

After 4 hours of hard-core competitive craft action, each team will present their upcycled look to the panel of judges, including Project Runway’s Christopher Straub (and legions of adoring fans).

What’s at stake?
Glory-sweet, sweet glory.  The winning team will have the opportunity to sell their winning look at the fabulous Minneapolis boutique I Like You, and will be featured on the No Coast website.  Plus, there will be more bedazzled trophies than you can shake a crochet hook at!

When is it?
No Coast Craft-a-Thon will take begin at 10:00 am on December 5, 2009, during No Coast Craft-o-Rama.  The fashion show and judging will be at 2:00 pm.

Where is it?
No Coast Craft-a-Thon will take place smack dab in the middle of the Midtown Global Market on the plaza stage.

Everyone is eligible to enter!  Put together an all-star team of four; each team will need to provide their own sewing machine (if desired) and scissors-we’ll take care of the rest!

Email us at craftathon@gmail.com by 11:59 pm on November 25 to tell us why your team deserves a chance to become No Coast Craft-a-Thon Champs.   Let us know your team’s name and the names of its members, attach some pictures if you like, and tell us your team’s theme song-it will be played live during your runway show!

Up to four teams will be selected by the No Coast Craft-o-Rama jury based on creativity of response and team members’ crafty credentials. It’s on!
