2009 Vendor Highlight: Campfire Goods

Posted by: aisha on November 27, 2009 7:29 pm
Andy Taray and Nick Caruso each run their own graphic design studio by day, based out of the rust belt cities they love–Akron, OH and Pittsburgh, PA. But in the evenings and on weekends, they tag-team to run Campfire Goods, a t-shirt company focused on good typography, good humor and regional pride. Each t-shirt is hand silk-screened to order by either Andy or Nick, though they bet you can’t tell the difference.

Campfire Goods has over 400 designs, including their popular City Of series, which was featured in Print and Metropolis Magazine, and their Holiday series, an homage to the classic movie, A Christmas Story.

They enjoy traveling the country and learning what’s great about where other folks come from. They are super excited to come back to Minneapolis, City of Hotdish, home of the Jucy Lucy, and a Great Lakes neighbor.

NEW Vendor Highlight: Dude and Chick

Posted by: aisha on November 24, 2009 8:07 pm

Dude and Chick began about a year ago, when John Gurtin and Katie Wilson decided to join forces after they discovered a shared love for stationery, letterpress, and cool stuff in general. Both John and Katie have a design background, as well as a history of printing and illustration, and together they design and produce every DNC card in-house. Their vintage style and salty humor is a perfect fit for anyone who appreciates a clever pun and some high quality facial hair. At DNC headquarters, days are spent cranking tunes and creating awesomeness. The result is a line of letterpress greeting cards chock full of stationery sweetness.

Dude and Chick is totally jazzed to be at NoCoast, and they want to see you there. You can find out more about their adventures at www.dudeandchick.com.

NEW Vendor Highlight: Penguin & Fish

Posted by: aisha on November 16, 2009 9:56 pm
Penguin & Fish is the delightful world of Minneapolis based illustrator and product designer Alyssa Thomas. Through Penguin & Fish Alyssa creates handmade, quirky, plush toys and embroidery patterns. Her little plush Kitties, Unicorns and Horses are uniquely designed so that you can see all four legs at once, reflecting her illustration style. Alyssa is passionate about creating things for children and is constantly making some sort of new toy or art project. She is proud to recently have finished illustrating her first children’s book, No Monster Here, now available at http://nomonsterhere.com. When Alyssa was a kid she would make everything from beaded bracelets to large papier mache masks, all to be bartered for at her “trading post” outside her bedroom door. Today Alyssa happily continues to make and sell her wares through Penguin & Fish. Recently Penguin & Fish was featured in Do It Yourself Magazine and Canadian Family Magazine.

NEW Vendor Highlight: Figs & Ginger

Posted by: aisha on November 10, 2009 7:12 pm

Husband and wife Rhonda & Elijah Wyman are the creators behind the handmade jewelry of Figs & Ginger. Inspired by forests, Figs’ work reflects their commitment to keeping our world beautiful and healthy for the next generation. That’s why they promise to use the highest recycled content sterling available, 100% recycled paper, and cleaner methods of metal-smithing.

New for the Spring & Summer are wallet-friendly Circle Necklaces & Earrings featuring tiny flora and fauna. Lovebirds, mountains, bunnies, deer, or trees in a small circle are cute and subtle. With Figs’ staple blackened and brushed patina these necklaces are in harmony with either modern or earthy styles. “Their jewelry looks great with every outfit we have here which makes it an easy sell. I think it’s really versatile.” says Michelle of Custom Boutique in Asheville, NC. - Necklaces and earrings cost $40-$45.
Elijah & Rhonda live in a little house in Asheville, NC. They spend their days happily hand-making jewelry, playing music, trying to grow their own food, and hanging out with PuppyKitty & Crashdog.

NEW Vendor Highlight: Saint Paul Soap

Posted by: aisha on November 5, 2009 6:52 pm

Saint Paul Soap is based out of, ahem, Saint Paul, MN; more specifically, out of a garage in the Midway area. CEO and President in Chief, Emily Dantuma, began this sudsy journey 3 years ago as a holiday gift experiment for friends and family. It quickly grew to become an obsession.

Employed as a home cleaning engineer Emily has long been aware of the chemical evils lurking in our home and body cleaning products and has become an advocate for simpler and safer cleaning methods.

Saint Paul Soap makes bar soap, liquid soap and household powder cleaner from all natural and vegan ingredients. We use only pure essential oils and food grade vegetable oils and dyes.

Saint Paul Soap is thrilled to be part of the 2009 No Coast Craft O Rama!
